Belan Lodge, and its historic courtyard give a unique oppurtunity to relax , unwind and steep yourself in history on a working farm. The farm was part of the renowned Belan House estate, the home of the famed corn miller Ebenezer Shackleton and uncle of the antartic explorer Ernest Shackleton.

Accommodation

Bed and Breakfast
We have Bed and Breakfast accommodation available. The rooms are all ensuite and a choice of traditional or continental breakfasts are available. If you have any special dietary requirements please advise us in advance and we will be able to fully cater for your needs.. The cost is €25 per person sharing or €50 per room. We are open all year round

Self Catering
There are 4 self catering apartments available to rent in the courtyard. There are both one and two bedrooms units in different sizes and layout available. Prices range from €200 to €350 per week all year round.

Things to do

County Kildare is home to 3 major racecourses, The Curragh,  Punchestown Racecourse and Naas Racecourse.   The Curragh racecourse is home to all 5 of the Irish Horseracing Classics. The Curragh is also home to many horse training stables. On an early morning visit to the Curragh it is possible to see the trainers and jockeys preparing their horses for the next big race. It is a great chance to see the behind the scenes work of the "Sport of Kings". Punchestown is the "Irish Cheltenham". The annual festival attracts the top National Hunt horses in Ireland and the UK.

Kilkea Castle Golf Club

This course has been developed in the magnificent setting of the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Ireland. The imaginative use of the River Griese provides a natural hazard at several holes, while two lakes and strategic bunkers add to the golfing challenge. Rathsallagh Golf Club

Rathsallagh is a magnificent Championship course designed by Peter McEvoy and Christy O'Connor Jr. It is set on 500 acres of rolling parkland with thousands of mature trees, lakes, streams and superb U.S.G.A. specified greens.

Athy Golf Club

As one of Kildare's finest clubs, we provide a beautifully picturesque 18-hole golf course, enhanced by mature beech trees and the calming waters of lake and stream.  Take on the challenge of our extensive fairways and manicured greens

The Heritage Golf Club

The Heritage a par 72 Championship course, designed by Seve Ballesteros and Jeff Howes is set in the beautiful rolling countryside of Co. Laois, just one hour from Dublin, with the Slieve Bloom Mountains as a backdrop. It provides a most enjoyable experience for golfers of all standards.  Five lakes and a stream that meanders through the course brings water into play on 10 holes. 98 beautifully shaped bunkers and 7,000 trees adorn the landscape, which is very gently undulating without any climbing involved.

Curragh Golf Club

This is the oldest golf course in Ireland, situated in the midst of the Curragh plains and steeped in military history.
