Tharina's Guest House is delightfully situated on the coast, halfway between Mosselbay and George in the heart of South Africa’s famous Garden Route. It overlooks 8km of unspoilt sandy beaches that are less than a 10 minute walk away.

We have created the perfect getaway for discerning corporate, tourist or family travellers with a personal and friendly touch to make it an unforgettable stay for our guests. It is also the ideal location for golfing and painting holidays. The house is conveniently only a 10 minute drive from George Airport and also the ideal halfway stopover between Port Elizabeth and Capetown.

The Garden Route is well known as a golfers paradise, boasting some of the best courses in South Africa - all are within easy reach of the guest house and include: Fancourt, Pinnacle Point, Pezula, Simola, Kingswood, George Golf Course, Mosselbay Golf Course and Ernie Els ‘Oubaai’. We can arrange T-off times for you in advance.

Tharina's Guest House consists of 4 similar styled and immaculate bedrooms with 2 single beds and en-suite facilities. Double beds are available on request. Each room has it’s own private entrance and outside seating relaxation area.

There are also coffee making facilities, underfloor heating and ceiling fans in each room and shower/hairdryer sockets in the bathrooms. Luxury percale bedlinen and plenty of wardrobe space will ensure your maximum comfort and pleasure. The rooms are all serviced daily.  In addition there is a TV Lounge and a dining room with a flat screen TV and DVD player, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with oven/hob, microwave, fridge/freezer washer/dryer. There is also a large covered patio with BBQ facilities and seating, ideal for eating outside and experiencing the South African outdoor lifestyle.

For the further enjoyment of our guests there is a large private deck with spectacular views of the ocean, the beach and the Great Brak River. An ideal spot for having a ‘sundowner’ whilst watching a beautiful sunset, or sunbathing during the warm summer days.

Golf

We are centred in the Garden Route and therefore the best golf courses are right around us. From Mossel Bay, George, Fancourt - Bramble Hill, Oubaai, Knysna, Simola, Pezula and Goose Valley in Plettenberg Bay. For the smaller golf enthusiasts there are numerous short courses available as well as a few great "putt-putt" options.

Mossel Bay Golf Course - 20 minutes away

The course is an easy walk and very playable from tee to green for all golfers, even if you have just taken up the game. The beautiful views of the Indian Ocean or the Springbuck roaming on the course might distract you, but they will most definitely leave you with lasting memories. The Mossel Bay golf course signature hole is the 3d hole, which is a par 4. At almost 400m, and a stroke two, this can be challenging especially when playing into the sea breeze.

George Golf Course - 25 minutes away

The George Golf course is a beautifully manicured, 72 par, 18 hole course, with bent greens, set in the heart of the garden route. The course rating for men is either 70 (club – 5774m) or 72 (championship – 6100m), while that for the ladies is 72 (5188m).

Oubaai Country Club - 20 minutes away

Oubaai is proud to be the first and only Ernie Els signature course. The golf course design presents a challenge to all levels of golfer and is a testimony to the talents of South Africa's favorite golfing son. The Golf Course is a Links layout where veld grasses line the lush fairways and greens. The elements, predominantly the wind, play a role in the defenses of the course; the course being a coastal golf course. However you will find generous fairways off the tees but in the spirit of the course these are well Oubaai Golf Course bunkered to penalize any stray or ill considered drives. The greens are in excellent condition and roll smooth and true.

Knysna Golf Course - 70 minutes away

Nestled on the shores of the Knysna Lagoon and close to the looming Heads, the Knysna Golf Club's 18-hole course meanders through tidal pools and between magnificent indigenous trees. An interesting parkland layout which has been enhanced over the past ten years, it has some of the best bent grass greens in the Southern Cape. Although flat and easy to walk, the course still provides players of all levels with a good challenge and is an affordable golfing experience not to be missed while touring the area

Pezula Championship Golf Course ( Knysna ) - 70 minutes away

Pezula Championship Golf Course adjacent to Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa is a sweeping spectacle of fairways and greens rolling through the pristine Southern Cape landscape. The breathtaking, award-winning 18-hole course which was designed by David Dale and Ronald Fream of Golf Plan USA, rates amongst the best and the most scenic golf courses in the world.

Simola Golf Course - 70 minutes away

Keeping your head down at Simola can be a challenge; simply because the views around the course are awe-enspiring, and with this, it is clear to see why Simola takes its place as one of South Africa's premier golfing destinations. It's also the first Jack Nicklaus Signature course on the Garden Route, reflecting the maestro's philosophy of attuning the layout and design to the natural lie of the land.

Goose Valley Golf Course - 135 minutes away

This magnificent golf estate offers a splendid Gary Player designed 72 par, 18-hole signature golf course in the heart of the Garden Route.
